Is Cardio Good For Fat Loss?
As an
Orange County Personal Trainer I get asked
this all the time. Most people think the best
way to burn fat and drop weight is to do endless
amounts of cardio. Not True. In fact, doing
endless amounts of cardio can actually hurt your
chances of getting leaner.
You see, slow-paced cardio can actually strip
valuable muscle tissue off your body, and muscle
helps you increase your metabolism and burn fat
at the same time. So, you don’t want that.
Also, your metabolism is not significantly
increased afterwards when performing slow-paced
cardio. This means that you will not burn as
much fat as possible.
The best thing you can do to really ignite your
metabolism is to perform fast-paced, all out
intensity type of training, such as interval
training and weight resistance.
Weight-resistance and interval training will
have your metabolism on fire for up to 48 hours
afterwards, allowing you to burn fat for a much
longer period of time.
Also, lifting weights will help you build
muscle, which in turn will help you burn fat. In
addition, lifting weights will promote your
body’s growth hormone release. And growth
hormone will help you not only burn fat, but
also slow down the aging process. That is why
people who lift weights consistently, look much
younger than their chronological age.
When I was once a
San
Diego Personal Trainer, I tested many types
of fat-burning strategies over the last 17
years, experimenting with many different
clients. And I have found that the best strategy
to losing fat and getting into incredible shape
is lifting weights and performing interval
training on a regular basis, combined with a
good nutrition plan of course.
