Irvine Personal Trainer’s Top 3 Fat-Loss Foods

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Personal Training in Irvine has been great, helping people lose fat and get into great shape.  But, part of getting into great shape, is not only exercising, but also what you eat.  There are 3 outstanding foods that help you burn fat.

First, egg whites.  Egg whites are awesome.  Not only are they a great souce of high quality protein, but they have no fat.  This helps you build quality muscle and ignite your metabolism, burning more fat than ever.

Second, broccoli.  Broccoli, along with all your greens, are a great source of rich vitamins and nutrients.  Also, it takes a lot more calories to digest broccoli that it contains itself.

And third, salmon.  This is great fish, not only is it a great source of quality protein, but salmon also has a high content of quality fats, known as unsaturated fats.

That’s right, I am not only an Orange County Personal Trainer, but I am also a marriage counselor.  I know, you are probably thinking, “what is this guy talking about?”  Well, couples that stay fit together have better marriages than those that don’t.

I have been personal training in Orange County for several years now, and from my experience, the couples that I have seen that work out and value their health, not only have much more in common, but also have much better marriages.  Besides, what a great way to bond with your mate.  Staying or getting in shape with your significant other will do so much for not only your marriage, but your body and health as well.

How To Choose A Great Personal Trainer In Orange County

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Personal Trainers are a dime a dozen in Orange County.  Most of them are not even certified with any credible certifications.  Some of these personal trainers just look good and call themselves personal trainers.

But, I want you to make the right choice for you when selecting a personal trainer in Orange County.

Here are some guidelines for you to go by:

1.  Make sure they are certified with a credible association such as Nesta, ISSA, or Ace.

2.  Make sure they are in great shape themselves.

3.  Make sure they know nutrition very well.  It is better if they have certified nutritionist on staff.  This is very important as nutrition is 80% of it.  This is where most personal trainers fail.

4.  Make sure they understand your goals and are supportive of that.

5.  And make sure you like their personality.

Good luck and keep training hard.

The Number 1 New Year’s Resolution

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Hey guys, it’s that time of year again.  You know, where everyone promises themselves how they are going to change their lives or give up something.  I am sure you know what the most popular New Year’s resolution is.  That’s right, it’s to lose weight and get into shape.  You may even have made this resolution yourself.

Unfortunately, most people who make this resolution, never keep it.  Studies show that 93% of people that make resolutions never keep them.  What an incredible failure rate.

I would like to suggest  a couple of things that will help you this coming new year to be successful with your weight loss goals.

1.  Define specifically the result you want with your body in measurable terms with a deadline.  For example, you may want to lose 35 pounds in 6 months.

2.  Pick 3 things you can do that will help you achieve your fitness goal, such as hiring a personal trainer, following a great nutrition program and doing cardio activity.

3.  Set a series of short deadlines or evaluations.  For example, you can get a body fat test every 4 weeks.  This will keep you extremely accountable to reaching your fitness goals.  You have to have frequent measurements to ensure you are on track towards the result you want.

Follow this simple advice and don’t give up.  You will be very happy you did.  Good luck.

Train hard and eat even smarter.

Is Nutrition Important?

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

This question just makes me laugh.  The number one reason that we Americans are suffering from obesity is nutrition.  From the poor quality of food to the supersized amounts.  Most people think that as soon as they start exercising they are going to lose all their body fat.  WRONG!

You may lose a few pounds here and there, but you never get the body you want and you usually gain it all back.  For most people, 80% is nutrition.  Here at Getting Fit, we have worked with hundreds of people who have exercised all their lives, yet can not get the body they want.  As soon as we make some small shifts to their diet, they start losing serious amounts of fat.

It’s all about using the correct approach and nutrition is the biggest part.  Sadly, for most people, nutrition is the hardest.  Most people attach so much pleasure to eating.  The reason why we are so successful with our clients is that we make small, incremental changes so our clients never get overwhelmed.  Before they know it, they have lost 30 lbs. and it was pretty easy.

Our goal is to make sure our clients enjoying working out and eating right, as they get phenomenal results with their health and fitness.  And they do.  Remember, if you want to get into the best shape of your life, you will have to make some positive changes nutritionally.

Orange County Personal Trainer Reveals The 5 Biggest Fat-Loss Mistakes

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Most people are trying to lose weight and get into great shape.  But, they are doing all the wrong things.  And I know, it’s so hard with all the conflicting misinformation out there.  Who do you trust?  Well, I am going to give you some clarity on the subject of fat-loss.

Here are the 5 Biggest Mistakes That People Are Making:

1.  Using slow-paced cardio to lose fat.

This is a huge misconception.  Slow-paced cardio only boosts your metabolism for a couple of hours

after your session.  A better alternative is weight resistance, where you metabolism will be boosted for

48 hours.  Plus, lifting weights builds fat-burning muscle.  The more muscle, the more fat you will burn.

2.  Eating low-carb diets.

Low-carb diets just break down your fat-burning muscle tissue and slow down your metabolic rate.  That

is what you don’t want.  You want to follow a more balanced diet program that promotes fat loss and

     muscle tone.

3.  Low-fat diets.

Your body needs good fats, such as nuts, avocados, olives, flaxseed, etc.  With low-fat diets, people start

eating too many carbs, which jacks up your insulin levels, thus making you fatter and fatter.

4.  Relying on fat-loss pills.

Most of these fat-loss pills are bogus and do not work.  You know there is no regulation of supplements

to carry the ingredients they say they carry.  Save your money and invest in a good program and good

     foods.

5.  Skipping meals, such as breakfast.

When you skip meals your metabolism just slows down.  Your body has a survival mechanism.  So, you

want to eat at least 5 to 6 small, healthy meals per day, which will skyrocket your metabolism and have

      you burning tons of fat.

So, avoid these 5 traggic mistakes and start burning some fat and getting into great shape.  Good luck and be fit.

To your health,

Do Bootcamps Really Work?

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

I am asked this question all the time.   There is a place for bootcamps.  But, bootcamps do not compare to 1 on 1 personal training, not even close.  Here is an analogy for you.  Lets say you need a math tutor.  How far do you think you will get if you have a tutor is tutoring you and 12 other people versus a tutor who is just working with you and your specific issues?

Bootcamps are great to save a little money and get a cookie cutter workout.  But, most people who do bootcamps hit a point where they plateau and can’t lose any more weight.  Whereas with 1 on 1 personal training, everything is customize to you and your goals, making sure you get the body and fitness you want as fast as possible.

Here, at Getting Fit Personal Training everything we do from personal training to nutrition is customize to our clients, thier body types and their goals, getting them the exact results they want.  And we do.
