Orange County Personal Trainer Reveals 3 Fattening Foods

Monday, June 15th, 2009

There are a lot of unhealthy foods.  But, what really ticks me off are foods that claim to be healthy, but really aren’t  It’s these big food corporations who want to rob you of a quick buck and sell you a box of lies.  And the FDA is on their side.  Who do you think is paying them?  That’s right, the big food corporations.

Well, I am here to expose the truth to what foods that claim to be healthy, but really aren’t.

Unhealthy Food #1 -  Frozen Dinners.  Lean cuisine or any similar type of frozen foods.  No frozen food is healthy for you.  They are loaded with tons of unhealthy preservatives that will have you putting on fat faster than fat albert.

Unhealthy Food #2 - Restaurante Salads.  Restaurant salads are full of fatty salad dressing.  Did you know that 1 cup of salad dressing has about 1000 kcal?  If you are going to eat salad at a restaurant, ask for the dressing on the side, and use it sparingly.

Unhealthy Food #3 - Diet Sodas.  Diet Sodas are advertised as being non-fattening, but the chemicals, such as aspartame, can really damage your endocrine system, causing you to gain weight.  And it is because of all these chemicals why America is so fat.  The chemicals that are used in processing and prerserving foods, is really hurting us in many ways.

Being a San Diego Personal Trainer and Nutritionist, I have helped thousands of individuals correct their diets and get into great shape, by losing fat and toning muscle.  You are truly what you eat.

Orange County Personal Trainer Destroys Man Boobs

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I know you guys out there know exactly what I am talking about.  The guys that are so fat that their chest looks like a pair of woman’s breasts.  Pretty sick, I know.  But, that is what happens when men gain just too much weight.  First, because of the large weight gain, there is so much adipose tissue (fat) that is around the chest area.  And second, because of the high body fat levels, a hormone inbalance develops, where the testosterone level drops and the estorgen level rises, causing charteristics of a woman.

Well, no fear.  There is a remedy for this that is very simple.  Just lose weight and get your body level down to a healthy range.  All you have to is start a exercise regimen that consists of weight lifting and some interval training, such as wind sprints or stadium running.  Then, all you have to do is eat clean.  And by clean, I mean eating non-processed foods.  Foods that are natural and in their raw state.  Start doing this and your man boobs will disappear shortly.

I Just Ate McDonald’s And I Feel Guilty

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

I have been eating clean all week and yesterday, Saturday, was my cheat day.  I eat fairly well, execpt for the double cheeseburger and fries I ate.  Today, Sunday morning, I feel guilty.  I feel slightly bloated and sick in my stomach.  But, that’s ok.  We all can’t be strict 100% of  the time or we would burn out and achieve no success.

Life is all about balance and moderation.  You see, having a cheat day or a cheat meal one per week makes it much easier to eat healthy and clean all week long.  And when you do that, you get into great shape and of course, much healthier.

I am off the gym to blast away some major calories and build some great muscle.

Eat well and Merry Christmas

The Most Powerful Antioxidant Ever

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Did you know that one of the most potent antioxidants on the planet has been typically just thrown away for years as garbage?

While most people have heard that blueberries, pomegranate, red wine, green tea, and even coffee are potent sources of antioxidants… most people have never heard that coffee-berry (the berry that covers the coffee bean) is actually one of the most powerful antioxidants on the planet.

Up until recently, most of the “coffee-berry” was just seen as waste and thrown away. In recent years, researchers have discovered the super-antioxidant abilities of coffee-berry and are now making it available as an antioxidant supplement.

Of course, we know that getting high levels of antioxidants in your diet is important for fighting the free-radicals involved in aging, cancer risk, and other degenerative diseases — as well as supporting a healthy immune system, and skin protection.

Can you imagine how powerful of antioxidant protection that you can get if you combine all of these super-antioxidants into one:

*high ORAC coffee-berry
*acai-berry
*pomegranate
*green tea
*wolf berry
*red wine

Well, that’s exactly what I wanted to do… so a couple months ago, my friends at Prograde Nutrition actually called me and asked for my recommendation for a new antioxidant formulation they were developing.

I recommended formulating it with 5 or 6 of these super-antioxidants all into one to get the best of all worlds.

The final formulation, which includes all six of the antioxidants listed above, came out with an ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) high enough that you’d have to eat a full pound of raspberries to get the same ORAC.

The red wine antioxidants are actually from something called Biovin Grape, which is extracted from red wine grapes.

I think that when you combine several powerful antioxidants like this all together that they will work synergistically to provide an even stronger antioxidant protection than any one of them alone.

Prograde has called this new formulation - Prograde Longevity.

Milk Does Not Do A Body Good

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Hey guys, I hope you all are doing great during the holidays, enjoying yourself, getting your Christmas shopping done, spending time with your loved ones.  What a great time of year to just catch your breath, before 2009 starts.  And you know what the means.  More people will promise themselves that they will get in shape.  NOT!

Anyways, I wanted to share with you a harsh reality about milk.  Everyone thinks that milk is healthy, but it’s not.  The only truly healthy milk for you was your mother’s breast milk.  And if you are reading this right now, I am sure your mom has stopped lactating. The milk from cows are meant only for calves.

Plus, the milk in the stores is contaminated with so many drugs, from the pro-hormones that are put into the cows to the pasteurization process.  So, if you really want to drop  body fat and get that lean and sexy body, drop milk from your diet.  You can use calcium supplements to get your calcium, alongside with sory or rice milk.

So, don’t believe all the commercials you see about how great milk is for you.  Just lies to get you to buy more non-healthy milk to keep the dairy farmers in business.  And American business is definately not above lying to you to make a fast buck.

I wish you a great Christmas.

The Number 1 New Year’s Resolution

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Hey guys, it’s that time of year again.  You know, where everyone promises themselves how they are going to change their lives or give up something.  I am sure you know what the most popular New Year’s resolution is.  That’s right, it’s to lose weight and get into shape.  You may even have made this resolution yourself.

Unfortunately, most people who make this resolution, never keep it.  Studies show that 93% of people that make resolutions never keep them.  What an incredible failure rate.

I would like to suggest  a couple of things that will help you this coming new year to be successful with your weight loss goals.

1.  Define specifically the result you want with your body in measurable terms with a deadline.  For example, you may want to lose 35 pounds in 6 months.

2.  Pick 3 things you can do that will help you achieve your fitness goal, such as hiring a personal trainer, following a great nutrition program and doing cardio activity.

3.  Set a series of short deadlines or evaluations.  For example, you can get a body fat test every 4 weeks.  This will keep you extremely accountable to reaching your fitness goals.  You have to have frequent measurements to ensure you are on track towards the result you want.

Follow this simple advice and don’t give up.  You will be very happy you did.  Good luck.

Is Nutrition Important?

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

This question just makes me laugh.  The number one reason that we Americans are suffering from obesity is nutrition.  From the poor quality of food to the supersized amounts.  Most people think that as soon as they start exercising they are going to lose all their body fat.  WRONG!

You may lose a few pounds here and there, but you never get the body you want and you usually gain it all back.  For most people, 80% is nutrition.  Here at Getting Fit, we have worked with hundreds of people who have exercised all their lives, yet can not get the body they want.  As soon as we make some small shifts to their diet, they start losing serious amounts of fat.

It’s all about using the correct approach and nutrition is the biggest part.  Sadly, for most people, nutrition is the hardest.  Most people attach so much pleasure to eating.  The reason why we are so successful with our clients is that we make small, incremental changes so our clients never get overwhelmed.  Before they know it, they have lost 30 lbs. and it was pretty easy.

Our goal is to make sure our clients enjoying working out and eating right, as they get phenomenal results with their health and fitness.  And they do.  Remember, if you want to get into the best shape of your life, you will have to make some positive changes nutritionally.

What Alcoholic Drink Can I Drink and Stay Fit?

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Man, I get this all the time.  Owning of one of the largest personal training companies in Orange County, people always want to keep their alcohol in their diet.  And I mean a lot of alcohol.  We had one client who drank an entire two bottles of wine every night with dinner, by himself.

Hey, I am all for enjoying life, but I think he had a slight problem.  Anyways, after working with him, we cut down his wine consumption from two bottles to two glasses.  And on weekends he could drink as much as we wanted.  After 5 weeks, he lost 12.8 pounds of ugly body fat and lost his craving for wine.  And in four months, he went from 22% body fat to 11% body fat.

The point I am trying to make is that it is ok to drink alcohol so long as you keep it in moderation.  And avoid the high caloric beverages such as any drink with fruit juices.  That is just going to jack up your alcohol consumption.

Second, if you are looking to get a great buzz, go for shots.  You will get a buzz much faster without adding on too many calories.

Third, avoid beer.  Beer is so fattening and promotes estrogen in your body and you don’t want that.  Estrogen is a female hormone, making you retain water and hold onto fat.

So, if you guys know you are going to go out and drink, just cut down your carbs during the day to compensate for the alcohol sugars you are going to be consuming.

Train hard and eat smarter.  And don’t forget to drive safe.

Carbs-Friend or Foe?

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

I get asked this all the time.  Are low-carb diets the best way to go to lose weight?  In general, no.  The atkins diet made the low-carb diet populary due to the extreme and quick weight-loss.  But, the weight-loss was 50% muscle and 50% fat, thus making you a smaller fat person.  Plus, these low-carb diets are very unhealthy and make you very acidic, creating an environment that is susceptible to disease and cancer.

You need carbs, healthy carbs.  Its about moderation.  There are good carbs and there are bad carbs.  You want to definately stay away from the bad carbs, which are usually your processed foods.  The good carbs are your raw foods, such as potatoes, yams, brown rice, whole-grains, peas, and so on.  If you pair these healthy carbs with protein and fiber, such as broccoli, spinach, or green beans, you will start burning some serious fat and building some nice, sexy, tone muscle.

Until next time, keep training hard and eat even smarter.

How To Stay Motivated During The Holidays

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

I know this is the time of year that it is difficult to stay motivated to eat healthy meals, let alone get yourself in the gym a few times a week.  With all the Christmas parties, the Christmas parties and traveling, it is very easy to gain a few pounds.

It’s ok to splurge and take some down time to recharge your batteries, then comeback with a vengence.  But, you don’t need to go overboard.  First, there is not a Christmas party every single day at every meal.  So, you need to eat healthy throughout the day as much as you can, and splurge a little here and there.  Don’t just let your nutrition go totally haywire.

Second, you can still workout, but maybe cut the frequency down a little or change things up.  If you work out with a buddy or work out outside, you can break up the monotony and have some fun.

Third, just remember how you want to look to keep focused on your goal.  This will always keep you on the future instead of moving away from some painful place of being over-weight.  Most people lose some weight, then get comfortable, then start sabotaging themselves.  Don’t do that.  Keep moving forward towards your vision.

And fourth, if you are skiing, you can burn a lot of calories skiing.  You can even throw in some cross crounty skiing.  That will really kick your butt.

Have a great holiday and stay fit.
