Irvine Personal Trainer’s Top 3 Fat-Loss Foods

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Personal Training in Irvine has been great, helping people lose fat and get into great shape.  But, part of getting into great shape, is not only exercising, but also what you eat.  There are 3 outstanding foods that help you burn fat.

First, egg whites.  Egg whites are awesome.  Not only are they a great souce of high quality protein, but they have no fat.  This helps you build quality muscle and ignite your metabolism, burning more fat than ever.

Second, broccoli.  Broccoli, along with all your greens, are a great source of rich vitamins and nutrients.  Also, it takes a lot more calories to digest broccoli that it contains itself.

And third, salmon.  This is great fish, not only is it a great source of quality protein, but salmon also has a high content of quality fats, known as unsaturated fats.

Orange County Personal Trainer Destroys Man Boobs

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I know you guys out there know exactly what I am talking about.  The guys that are so fat that their chest looks like a pair of woman’s breasts.  Pretty sick, I know.  But, that is what happens when men gain just too much weight.  First, because of the large weight gain, there is so much adipose tissue (fat) that is around the chest area.  And second, because of the high body fat levels, a hormone inbalance develops, where the testosterone level drops and the estorgen level rises, causing charteristics of a woman.

Well, no fear.  There is a remedy for this that is very simple.  Just lose weight and get your body level down to a healthy range.  All you have to is start a exercise regimen that consists of weight lifting and some interval training, such as wind sprints or stadium running.  Then, all you have to do is eat clean.  And by clean, I mean eating non-processed foods.  Foods that are natural and in their raw state.  Start doing this and your man boobs will disappear shortly.

Orange County Personal Trainer Crushes Fat-Loss Myths

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Happy Holidays to all of you.  This is the time of year to have a great time with friends and family.  Also, this is the time most people are packing another 5 to 10 lbs. of pure lard.  And I know, everyone is going to start their new diet and exercise program come January.

Well, I want to help all of you get into great shape by destroying some myths.

1.  In order to get into great and lean shape you need to do tons of cardio.

This is wrong.  Slow-paced cardio is the worst thing.  You don’t burn that many calories.  Plus, your metabolism is not boosted very long afterwards.  Whereas if you do intense stop and go training, known as Interval Training, jacks your metabolic rate tremendously for up to 48 hours afterwards, burning a ton more fat.

2.  Your dreams of a lean and sexy body are locked in these fat-loss pills.

NOT TRUE.  Most of your supplements do not work.  They are a complete waste of money.  All you need is to just follow an intelligent exercise program and a healthy diet.

3.  Doing tons of situps and crunches are going to give you a flat stomach.

WRONG!  Doing tons of ab exercises are not going crush your belly fat and get you six pack abs.  You can’t spot reduce fat.  In order to get a flat and tone stomach you need to lose overall body fat.  The best thing is to do whole body workouts that will burn tons of fat, combined with a good nutrition program.

Follow these simple tips and you will see a new body appear in 2009.

I Just Ate McDonald’s And I Feel Guilty

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

I have been eating clean all week and yesterday, Saturday, was my cheat day.  I eat fairly well, execpt for the double cheeseburger and fries I ate.  Today, Sunday morning, I feel guilty.  I feel slightly bloated and sick in my stomach.  But, that’s ok.  We all can’t be strict 100% of  the time or we would burn out and achieve no success.

Life is all about balance and moderation.  You see, having a cheat day or a cheat meal one per week makes it much easier to eat healthy and clean all week long.  And when you do that, you get into great shape and of course, much healthier.

I am off the gym to blast away some major calories and build some great muscle.

Eat well and Merry Christmas

The Number 1 New Year’s Resolution

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Hey guys, it’s that time of year again.  You know, where everyone promises themselves how they are going to change their lives or give up something.  I am sure you know what the most popular New Year’s resolution is.  That’s right, it’s to lose weight and get into shape.  You may even have made this resolution yourself.

Unfortunately, most people who make this resolution, never keep it.  Studies show that 93% of people that make resolutions never keep them.  What an incredible failure rate.

I would like to suggest  a couple of things that will help you this coming new year to be successful with your weight loss goals.

1.  Define specifically the result you want with your body in measurable terms with a deadline.  For example, you may want to lose 35 pounds in 6 months.

2.  Pick 3 things you can do that will help you achieve your fitness goal, such as hiring a personal trainer, following a great nutrition program and doing cardio activity.

3.  Set a series of short deadlines or evaluations.  For example, you can get a body fat test every 4 weeks.  This will keep you extremely accountable to reaching your fitness goals.  You have to have frequent measurements to ensure you are on track towards the result you want.

Follow this simple advice and don’t give up.  You will be very happy you did.  Good luck.

Is Nutrition Important?

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

This question just makes me laugh.  The number one reason that we Americans are suffering from obesity is nutrition.  From the poor quality of food to the supersized amounts.  Most people think that as soon as they start exercising they are going to lose all their body fat.  WRONG!

You may lose a few pounds here and there, but you never get the body you want and you usually gain it all back.  For most people, 80% is nutrition.  Here at Getting Fit, we have worked with hundreds of people who have exercised all their lives, yet can not get the body they want.  As soon as we make some small shifts to their diet, they start losing serious amounts of fat.

It’s all about using the correct approach and nutrition is the biggest part.  Sadly, for most people, nutrition is the hardest.  Most people attach so much pleasure to eating.  The reason why we are so successful with our clients is that we make small, incremental changes so our clients never get overwhelmed.  Before they know it, they have lost 30 lbs. and it was pretty easy.

Our goal is to make sure our clients enjoying working out and eating right, as they get phenomenal results with their health and fitness.  And they do.  Remember, if you want to get into the best shape of your life, you will have to make some positive changes nutritionally.

What Alcoholic Drink Can I Drink and Stay Fit?

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Man, I get this all the time.  Owning of one of the largest personal training companies in Orange County, people always want to keep their alcohol in their diet.  And I mean a lot of alcohol.  We had one client who drank an entire two bottles of wine every night with dinner, by himself.

Hey, I am all for enjoying life, but I think he had a slight problem.  Anyways, after working with him, we cut down his wine consumption from two bottles to two glasses.  And on weekends he could drink as much as we wanted.  After 5 weeks, he lost 12.8 pounds of ugly body fat and lost his craving for wine.  And in four months, he went from 22% body fat to 11% body fat.

The point I am trying to make is that it is ok to drink alcohol so long as you keep it in moderation.  And avoid the high caloric beverages such as any drink with fruit juices.  That is just going to jack up your alcohol consumption.

Second, if you are looking to get a great buzz, go for shots.  You will get a buzz much faster without adding on too many calories.

Third, avoid beer.  Beer is so fattening and promotes estrogen in your body and you don’t want that.  Estrogen is a female hormone, making you retain water and hold onto fat.

So, if you guys know you are going to go out and drink, just cut down your carbs during the day to compensate for the alcohol sugars you are going to be consuming.

Train hard and eat smarter.  And don’t forget to drive safe.

How To Stay Motivated During The Holidays

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

I know this is the time of year that it is difficult to stay motivated to eat healthy meals, let alone get yourself in the gym a few times a week.  With all the Christmas parties, the Christmas parties and traveling, it is very easy to gain a few pounds.

It’s ok to splurge and take some down time to recharge your batteries, then comeback with a vengence.  But, you don’t need to go overboard.  First, there is not a Christmas party every single day at every meal.  So, you need to eat healthy throughout the day as much as you can, and splurge a little here and there.  Don’t just let your nutrition go totally haywire.

Second, you can still workout, but maybe cut the frequency down a little or change things up.  If you work out with a buddy or work out outside, you can break up the monotony and have some fun.

Third, just remember how you want to look to keep focused on your goal.  This will always keep you on the future instead of moving away from some painful place of being over-weight.  Most people lose some weight, then get comfortable, then start sabotaging themselves.  Don’t do that.  Keep moving forward towards your vision.

And fourth, if you are skiing, you can burn a lot of calories skiing.  You can even throw in some cross crounty skiing.  That will really kick your butt.

Have a great holiday and stay fit.

Fruits And Vegetables Made Easy

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Everyone knows the importance of fruits and vegetables, but most people don’t even come close to eating enough every day.  Worse yet, all the fruits and vegetables are contaminated with pesticides and other chemicals, unless you get organic.

I have the solution.  I stumbled across a phenomenal product.  This product is the equivalent of eating 17 fruits and vegetables every day.  The best part is that it is 100% organic, with no synthetic or artificial ingredients whatsoever.

This is not multi-vitamin, but a whole-food.  Which is much better.  There are so many healing proprieties to this product.  I have recommended this product to many of our clients and the success stories are amazing.  One of our clients had a serious condition of IBS, where she was taking prescription pills for it.  After only 2 months of taking this revolutionary product, she stopped taking medication and her IBS went away.

Another client of ours struggled to eat right and lose weight.  After a month of this whole-based food, his cravings for unhealthy food went away and he lost 17 lbs. in 9 weeks.

This amazing product is called, “Juice Plus.”  It’s an amazing product that I totally reommend.  Being a nutritionist, I have never seen anything like this.  Many doctors and holistic healers recommend this product to their patients.

The Truth About Fats

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Most people think that they have to eat a low-fat or no fat diet in order to lose fat and get into shape.  Not true.  There are bad fats and there are good fats.  Your body needs fats to maintain health and many bodily functions.

There are fats that help you lower your cholesterol levels.  These are unsaturated fats, such as avocados, nuts, flaxseed, olive oil, salmon fat, and many more.  These are great examples of healthy fats that you should include in your diet.

The bad fats are the saturated fats that come from animal sources, such as the fats found in meats, egg yolks, butter and many more.  Try to minimize your saturated fats as much as possible and your body will thank you for it.
